Sunday Roast in Krabi?

Cafe 8.98 – Sunday roasts in Krabi Town & Ao nang

Sunday Roast with Roast Chicken and Roasted Potatoes

I have spent some time in a rural part of England and if there is one thing that is almost equally as important as tea time then it is a quality Sunday Roast. The tea, of course, comes afterwards. Therefore I was happy to find out that Café 8.98 serves such a roast as well and it comes close to the real deal. They offer it with either roast pork belly, Australian beef sirloin or roast chicken. I picked the latter and was surprised by the gracious portion of seven slices of well cooked and tender chicken plus a leg.

The trimmings were included as well and like my English grandfather would say: “That’s the best bloody part!”

To accompany the meat I had a variety of vegetables like carrot wedges and steamed broccoli. I particularly liked the grilled onion, since it tasted so well with the chicken. I also chose the roasted potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes. I ended up squashing them anyway in order to let it soak up the tasty gravy. You can really tell that they make the sauce themselves as opposed to using a packaged one. It wasn’t too salty and too strong in flavor; just the right quality that bound the whole meal together. Last, but certainly not least we have the Yorkshire pudding, which was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. I used the last pieces of it to “clean” the plate of the last drops of gravy.

The Sunday Roast at Café 8.98 comes with either red or white wine, but as non-alcoholic I just had a cup of coffee with it. However, I can imagine that a meal as sumptuous and opulent as this one goes really well with a nice glass of wine. One could say that it’s the perfect way to finish off a great week.
