The best Eggs Benedict in Krabi! Hands Down
Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Watermelon & Apple Juice
They say that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”
…..and so I decided to start my morning accordingly with eggs benedict from Café 8.98. Whenever I choose poached eggs, I always feel that I’m ordering something special, since the cooking process requires so much skill and attention. And I’m happy to say that the cook possesses both attributes, for the eggs were delicious and still slightly runny.
As a companion piece, one would normally get bacon, but since I’m in a town close to the ocean I opted for thin slices of smoked salmon instead. It worked well together with the eggs, and the crisp and warm croissant. Of course, you can’t have eggs benedict without the appropriate sauce. The hollandaise was as good as the rest with a flavor that was not too strong.
In my opinion, this was just right since the whole dish lives from a more subtle flavor. As usual, the staff places an assortment of condiments beforehand on the table. However, I think that there is no need for any of them. I mean, who in their right mind would put ketchup on poached eggs!?
I ordered my obligatory cup of joe with the meal, but to properly jump start my day, I also went for a watermelon & apple juice. One thing I love about Thailand is the abundance of fresh fruit, so, obviously, the juice was freshly pressed and oh-so-refreshing.
All in all, I’m glad about all the morning decisions that I made. I assume this special feeling that I get whenever I’m ordering eggs benedict also comes from the fact that I’m on holiday in a beautiful and sunny country. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if people feel similarly and that eggs benedict are the most ordered breakfast item at Café 8.98. I bet a 100 Baht that it is.
